What makes the Avi-on™ network different than other technologies such as Zigbee™ or Z-Wave™?

Even though messages on other technologies can be relayed between devices in a mesh-like fashion, they depend on the existence of a gateway or central hub to function. One of the primary reasons for this is that end user devices (such as smartphones or tablets) don’t have any built-in connectivity for such networks. Since the Avi-on™ network is Bluetooth™ based, smartphones and tablets can establish a connection to any Avi-on™ device and use them as their way into the mesh (we call that “forming a bridge to the mesh”). In other words, any Avi-on™ device can be your “gateway”.
