Introducing Avi-on

Avi-on Direct Connect Sensors

SENSORS THAT JUST PLUG IN

Avi-on Direct Connect Load Controllers

Simply plug a sensor into an Avi-on load controller. All of the power and communications come directly from the load controller. Instead of having two separate units, they become an integrated whole.

exceptional functionality, affordable price

Avi-on has completely redesigned our new line of sensors to bring incredible functionality and simplicity at very affordable pricing.  With the use of our proprietary Direct Connect low voltage cable, sensors receive communication and power from any Avi-on load controller.  Keeping the “brains” of the sensors inside of a connected load controller allows for reduced pricing and easy integration.

LOWER INTEGRATION COSTS

Our new “Direct Connect” sensors, in conjunction with Avi-on’s enhanced fixture adaptor and zonal controller suite, provide faster, easier, and more cost-effective ways to integrate sensors to virtually any luminaire.

Integrating Direct Connect sensors into each luminaire converts them into a smart system. Customers are not only able to get more energy savings as demonstrated by NEEA research but can also future proof their buildings.

SENSORS THAT CHANGE everything

Avi-on Direct Connect Sensors

The PIR/Daylighting Family

The PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor is the lowest cost sensor on the market and works if one is within its line of site. If you see the sensor and the sensor sees you, you will be detected. The versatile design and mounting options of the PIR Sensor make it a great solution for commercial, institutional and industrial applications, such as, warehouses, manufacturing plants, schools, gyms and offices.

Here are a few of the features and benefits:

  • Adjustable daylight harvesting parameters
  • Adjustable motion parameters
  • Easy to connect to Avi-on Load Controllers
  • Flexible mounting options
    • In fixture
    • Ceiling Mount
    • Side mount
    • Junction mount
  • IP67 rating making it one of the most rugged sensors in the industry for both interior and exterior projects
  • Single-lens design suited for low- & high-bay applications, up to 30ft mounting height

The Microwave Direct Connect Sensor

The Microwave Direct Connect Sensor provides motion detection and/or daylight harvesting in a highly compact unit.  The Microwave Sensor works with an Avi-on load controller and is used in any office, school or indoor type applications. The Microwave Sensor is smaller, cleaner looking and allows you to keep the sensor behind the lens of the product.

Here are a few of the features and benefits:

  • Adjustable motion parameters
    • Covers office and open areas up to 15 feet
    • Will not trigger through floors, door or windows
  • Easy to connect to Avi-on Load Controllers
  • Small and compact – can be hidden inside luminaires, including most flat panels, troffers, retrofit kits, thin linear and architectural fixtures
  • Various mounting options:
    • Side mounting
    • In- fixture via the magnet or bracket
    • Behind the lens
    • Acoustic tile mount
  • Fully adjustable parameters for Daylight Harvesting

NOTE FROM THE CEO //

INTRODUCING OUR NEW DIRECT CONNECT SENSORS

For the past several decades, the vast majority of commercial and industrial buildings have been designed with traditional sensors that are mounted in a ceiling, providing automatic shut offs for groups of luminaires.  While this is a cost-effective design solution to comply with existing building energy codes, control layouts can be tricky and each sensor placement must be carefully analyzed to ensure adequate performance.

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) has been taking a leading role with Luminaire Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) systems for the past few years. They recently published studies, done in conjunction with the University of Oregon and DLC, comparing LLLC to Network Lighting Controls (NLC) and other uncontrolled baselines. The results are favorable to LLLCs showing a higher level of satisfaction by installers and greater energy savings.

Moving forward we will see more utility companies jumping on the LLLC bandwagon, offering higher tiers of rebate for it. Technologies and sensors that also help limit exposure to viruses, like COVID-19, in buildings are likely to accelerate the adoption of LLLC systems.

At Avi-on we are dedicated to providing technologies for better and smarter buildings and we are excited to share with you this month our new family of “Direct Connect”™ sensors that will simplify and make LLLCs even more cost-effective.

Sincerely,
Eric Miller
