Avi-on Lighting Controls Adds OpenADR 2.0 Certification to Its IOT Platform

OpenADR 2.0 enables Avi-on customers to comply with California Title 24 building codes for lighting retrofits

Park City, Utah – May 9, 2022 – Avi-on Labs, Inc., the North American leader in Bluetooth® lighting controls, today announced it has received OpenADR 2.0 certification for its demand management capability from the OpenADR Alliance. Founded in 2010, the OpenADR Alliance was formed to foster the development, adoption, and compliance of open automated demand response standards. OpenADR standardizes the message format used for Auto-DR and DER management so that dynamic price and reliability signals can be exchanged in a uniform and interoperable fashion among utilities, ISOs, and energy management and control systems. Auto-DR, and specifically OpenADR, is increasingly a building code requirement for lighting retrofits for standards like California Title 24.

Eric Miller, CEO of Avi-on Labs said about the certification, “Avi-on was able to quickly and easily comply with the OpenADR certification requirements because of Avi-on’s unique, “No Gateway” architecture. All Avi-on past and future networks can implement the OpenADR capability with no modifications.”  Rolf Beinert, Managing Technical Director at the OpenADR Standard said; “We are pleased to have Avi-on join the growing list of controls platforms that support OpenADR. Avi-on support further expands the opportunity to make building loads a real-time response to energy availability and prices.”

Adoption for OpenADR 2.0 is recognized throughout many parts of North America including California, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Arizona, and Hawaii. Avi-on’s OpenADR certification info: https://products.openadr.org/product/avi-on-labs-inc-isy994-avion-oadr/

These certifications enable Avi-on to meet the highest standards of building codes, cybersecurity, and flexible installation locations.
